SUBMISSION  AND SELECTION OF CONTRIBUTIONS

The Doctoral Symposium emerges as an initiative within the Spanish Society for Natural Language Processing (SEPLN) convened within the SEPLN 2019 conference.
The Doctoral Symposium intends to provide a venue for student researchers in Natural Language Processing to present their work. Students will receive feedback and mentorship from experienced researchers in the same field based on the topic of their PhD. Furthermore, this orientation can be formalized and maintained over time through the Mentoring program, which already had its first call in 2017 and which has continuity this year within the activities of the PLN.net network. More information in:
http://gplsi.dlsi.ua.es/mentoring/

Therefore, all PhD students are invited to submit short papers (6 pages) describing their thesis project. The paper must be signed by a single author (doctoral candidate) and must follow the SEPLN format. The article submitted will be the basis for the further discussion in the Symposium. In order to initiate discussion, the document should include, among other sections:

  • Reason for the proposed research;
  • Background and related work (including important references);
  • Description of the proposed research, including the main hypotheses for research;
  • Methodology and the proposed experiments (if necessary);
  • Specific issues of research to be discussed;
  • References.

Papers for the Doctoral Symposium will be reviewed by a specific Committee Program and they will be selected according to their quality and potential impact on future research within the field of Natural Language Processing. The selected works will not be published in the SEPLN journal, but they will be included in an electronic version of the conference proceedings on CEUR Workshop Proceedings: http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-2251/
PhD students could additionally send an extended version of their research in order to be considered for the main conference, as no incompatibility arises. All contributions must be submitted electronically using the Myreview system available at:
http://myreview.sepln.org/myreview-sepln63/
And will follow the formatting guidelines established in any of the following Latex or Word templates:
http://www.sepln.org/impresos/SEPLN_latex.zip
http://www.sepln.org/impresos/SEPLN_word.zip
In order to support the participation of PhD students in this Doctoral Symposium, the PLN.NET network (Planet) (TIN2016-81739-REDT) will offer several grants to support the travel and accommodation expenses.

Conference registration for symposium participants is pending external funding. Students who plan to participate in the symposium are requested not to register yet as their amount could not be refunded if funding is finally awarded.
